Answer Me These Questions Three! – A Suitably Geeky Makeup Poll #4

Greetings from behind a mythril clipboard, fellow rogues!

Well hello there! 😀 I’ve got lots of things planned for the blog over the next weeks and months, particularly once the weather gets more consistently Spring-y and I have, uh, light to photograph things with!  While things are a little quieter, however, I thought we might sit down around the campfire and have another chat, because I love hearing from you all. Blogging is fun, but the community is even better 🙂

Beauty Spotlight Team Adventures

The Skeletal Necromancer and ‘friends’. It’s all about the community with necromancers, really.

On with the questionnaire!! 😀

Questing is a serious business, and as every good adventurer knows, it’s hard to get by without a bit of help and knowledge from your fellow treasure seekers. Which is the best brand of hinge grease? How do you defeat an enchanted automaton before the shine even leaves your lipgloss? Just how many pies *can* a dwarf eat in one sitting?

In the spirit of such inquiry, I have devised the Rogue Approved Questionnaire for the Extraction of Secrets. Also known as ‘Answer Me These Questions Three’. The questions are simple, and you are free to answer as fully, as tersely, as logically or as fantastically as you like. Please only use blue or black ink, and consult the orc-xaminer if you require an additional answer booklet.

You can copy and paste the questions into the comment box, or just list your answers if you prefer 🙂

The Questions

  • A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it? (Not a trick question)

  • If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

  • You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

Makeup Poll

I asked these guys what their favourite brown ey- uh, socket liner was, and they argued for HOURS. Jeez…

I’m looking forward to reading your answers! 🙂

Until next time, fellow adventurers, don’t forget to check for traps!

  1. A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it? (Not a trick question)

Probably the Half Elf. Exotic eyes with tons of color and painstaking eyeliner application in graceful swirls.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

A toss up between 3. Fresh Berry Lip Treatment, Medieval from Lipstick Queen, and Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Raisin. A better question is what I’ll be wearing in my unnatural life 🙂

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

Probably someone committing a heinous crime of fashion or makeup or both. Anything really bad would have been hit with a light or turning spell before she pointed!

even though I’m biased towards half-elves, I’d say the orc shaman’s rocking it out of the building and up & down the street. Demon blood lips (green so dark it’s black except at an angle), graphic eyes with wings extending to the hairline, deep, deep green eyeshadow with a gold shimmer, mirrored designs on the cheeks (bold graphic, probably in black but maybe in that deep green) and the forehead (design complementing the cheeks), 3/4 cutaway sleeves showing complementary designs down the arms, shading to green-gold on the hands.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Rhubarb
I’ll save the others for my unnatural adventuring days 🙂

    • I totally want to do that makeup look right now O_O, Hampered by not owning black lipstick, though (can you believe it? It’s because the only options here are basically those dollar store ones *shudder*)!

I’m seeing a lot of Burts Bees in the answers to this question! 😀 Seems I need to try these lip shimmers…especially the Rhubarb one!

Yeah, you’re probably right. Ever since he had a falling out (lovers’ tiff?) with his squire, he’s been trying to prove that he can ‘go it alone’…

Hmmmm… As a non-fantasy game player, I’ll have to make some educated guesses. I’ve heard that Dwarfs, male and female, have beards, so not much makeup there. Plus, it would sweat off during battle. Anyone with even a drop of Elf blood is gorgeous, and doesn’t need makeup. Shamans of all kinds, however, always seem to have an excellent sense of costume and drama. I’m thinking either intricate stripes and geometric shapes all over the face, scalp and neck. Or, perhaps, full facial skull makeup against a base of darkest black, with blood red teeth for a pop of color.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

Sephora lipstick in Cougar. It’s the perfect shade of brightest pink and makes me ever-so-happy.

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have wandered into the forest and are lost. I quickly distract the horrid beasts with my pocket mirror (they have to stop and look at themselves), and kill them with my trusty sword, “Celebutard Slayer.” I then take baby North to the Elves for a more normal upbringing and, hopefully, a beautiful new name.

    • I love the idea of the blood red teeth for some colour! 😀 Especially if you had some elongated canines and a bit of, y’know *gore* stuck in there like parsley bits.

I was just looking at a swatch of Cougar the other day! In Christine’s lineup of dupes for Kelly Yum Yum on Temptalia! It does indeed looka like a happy pink, and that’s exctly what I think a lipstick should make you 🙂

Well, I googled all three and half-elf looked like the only one who would wear makeup. The others were naturally beauties 😉

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?
I want Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Cherry to be the one because it looks great with a coral look for spring/summer but my naturally mauve lips calls for Rhubarb which was the only lip product I religiously bought at one stage of my life 🙂

What is it with this magical Burts Bees Rhubarb artefact?! I keep hearing about it, not just in this post but in general! I must investigate!!

Oh no! 😛 I’m sure your stalwart adventuring friends will look out for you, and the cleric will revive you later 😉

  5. 1. The half-elf rogue of course. All you can see are her eyes – the rest of her face is hidden under a mask – but damn that’s a good smoke eye she’s rocking!

    2. One of Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Envy lipsticks! Blotted down they give you a pretty my-lips-but-better effect & built up they can look super fierce! And they’re moisturizing enough to work as a lip balm.

    3. Grashnor the Orc is taking a dump in the bushes behind me.

    • It’s a rogue thing. You have to make the most of the surface area you have free for makeup, LOL!

  6. Literally terrible at these type of imagination type games but I can’t help focusing in on the lipstick question. ONLY ONE LIPSTICK? FOR EVER. I don’t think its a fair question as it’s kind of like saying if you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be. And normally I would say chocolate but did you ever OD on chocolate and then be like ‘I am dying for some crisps (you might call them chips, whatever) to take the edge off the chocolate’?

After much deliberation I would go with MAC Crosswires. But I don’t want to just have Mac Crosswires for the rest of my life. I need some Chantecaille Lucky to take the edge off the Crosswires

  7. Hmm lets see,
    1. I think an Orc is much like a pig in some ways and no matter how much lipstick you put on it it isn’t going to help much. However I am leaning towards the Dwarven warrior as having the best make-up, my reasoning is this: Elves (even half-elves) are more known for their already natural beauty and thus this half-elf rogue likely needs less to be acceptable in society than the poor dwarf does. With dwarves they take great pride in such things as artistic mastery and I think this dwarf would likely be rocking it out in metallic shades as influenced by their culture and they probably spend about 50 years or so working to be a master make-up artisan so I’m going to go with the dwarf. I’m fairly sure the eyeshadow will accent the beads braided into their beard.

    2. Not cool this question as I’m in so many different situations while adventuring that a single colour could insult the locals in one situation but not be enough in other locales. However, I’m going to have to go with my current favourite Limnit Lipstick in Olly Olly Oxen Free, a lovely Ox-blood shade with long lasting properties.

    3. With my luck I’m about to be eaten by a rabid bear, but I’m hoping instead she’s found some sort of gem or other useful item half-buried in the dirt behind me.

    • I think you’re right about the dwarven warrior! No matter what they do, be it slicing peope up with axes, quaffing, mining, smithing or putting on makeup, you can guarantee the dwarf is a master at the craft. 😀

Ox blood is always a good adventuring choice – intimidating if you need it to be, mesmerisingly vampy when you need it to be, covers up the bloodstains, etc!

Probably you would have heard the bear if it were rabid and in rampage mode. That said, it depends how deeply you were resting! 😉

  8. A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it? (Not a trick question)

The half-elf rogue. I LOVED playing the rogue class…(actually ok, I surprisingly liked being a tank, too, but I only ever played that on an alt character…I am a caster at heart). But half elves would have all the makeups DOWN.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?
This is not a cool question, hahaha. I’m going to be the rogue. I don’t have to listen to you! HAH.

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?
That dude we were camping just spawned…and he’s very, very big.

    • There’s some thing refreshingly low maintenance about being a tank, actually. When I started playing Guild Wars 2, I decided that I was going to step outside my rogue comfort zone…straigt into another comfort zone, which is being a tank 😛 Good fun though! I like watching attacks just sort of go ‘Ping’ off me…

Dammit! I thought you were a caster! Come back here and listen to me!! *runs after Larie* 😉

Uh oh… did he aggro on the paladin off at the edge trying to cook again?

  9. •A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it? (Not a trick question)

My initial thought was the half-elf rogue, but then the gleam from the dwarven warrior’s metallic gold eye makeup outshone her natural beauty. The dwarf has whorls of her favorite metal painted on her cheeks, too, to match the patterns on her hand crafted golden armor and in her earrings. No place to minor for this miner to show off her favorite metal!

•If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

My one Sisley lipstick. It feels good, stays on, smells heavenly, and I get compliments from the other adventurers. An expensive little treasure, it’s my preciousssss…..

•You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

She’s noticed my hair, frizzing frightfully in revenge for sweating during battle. I hang my head in shame, and she thinks the medusa-like beast has pounced….

    Like

    • Aah, that sounds like such an awesome dwarven makeup look!! 😀 I want to give that a try now…

Ooh, Sisley! Why is it always the luxe lipsticks that end up doingit all? ;-P I know the feeling well, since I’ve recent;y dicovered that my two favourite lipstick formulae are Rouge Coco and Rouge Automatique… *wallet cries*

We really need to take the cleric to get some eyeglasses or something… it’s not the first time she’s thought things like that. Either that or we should take a look at what’s in those ‘special’ cookies she’s always eating at the campfires…the ones she says help her to relax… O_o

  10. Ha! It’s hilarious how cheering the sight of your necromancers are. ***waves at the crew***

I think the orc shaman has it in the bag because he/she probably paints a mean clown face but filled with like MEANING and stuff. So, lipstick on forehead and fairy dust on lips, and they’re healing or protecting or something.

As for the REST OF LIFE LIP THING? Still on the search! My loyalty is hard-won!

    • *necromancers wave back, wrist bones rattling eerily* 😀

Clown faces with MEANING are the best clown faces. 😉 Now you’ve made me think of the faces of the Ankh Morpork Fools’ Guild, LOL! Lipstick on forehead sounds like it should be a thing. Like, a new trend. I dare you to start that one 😉

Easy answer: I’ll let you have any lipstick you like, but you have to wear it on your forehead…

  11. A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it?
of course it’s the half-elf rogue! the dwarves warrior only cares about jewelry, not makeup. the orc shaman has this weird tribal mask on her that gives +2wis. the half elf is rocking MUFE’s artist shadow in 512-golden beige (pale shimmery gold) with me-930 black purple (metallic black purple dual chrome) with a black cat eye (pick a heavy pigmented black gel/liquid liner of choice). she’s got her face evened out and spf covered with Iope’s air cushion sunblock xp. for blush, she’s rocking her Hourglass ambient blush palette in luminous flush that serendipitously ended up in her bags after she visited a sephora after hours and to round out her look she’s wearing her radiant orchid inspired lipgloss in Buxom purple haze.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?
i’m still on the search for this product but out of my current arsenal, i guess i’d have to pick revlon’s just bitten kissable balm stain in honey dolce. a perfect MLBB for me that’s kind of a mauvy, brown toned rose color. i have lots in my stash that i like better but choose this solid MLBB because i wouldn’t want to limit my eye look options because i choose something flashier as my single lip color.

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?
another half-elf rogue is getting away with my makeup stash. i don’t know what’s worse, the humiliation of getting my stash stolen from under me, the horror that i’ll be without pretty colors or the envy because she’s wearing a better look than i am!

    Like

    • OF COURSE the rogue is wearing metallic black purple shadow and purple lipstick, and other things that entered her world ‘serendipitously’. Because she’s awesome. As are you, for this answer. ;-D

I think keeping it neutral on ths lips is a very practical adventuring choice! Don’t want to be in the perfect dungeon for a full on smokey eye and have your wings clipped by the lipstick. That just won’t do.

There’s only one solution. THE OTHER ROGUE MUST NOT GET AWAY.

  12. One lipstick?! That’s CRUEL!! Well…. at this point I’ll have to say Maybelline Color Elixir in Luminous Lilac (LE). It’s a balm, a stain, and a lipstick all in one super lightweight and long-lasting formula! 😀 I can’t get enough of the color, too. Super duper pretty! ^_^

The orc shaman because he’s wearing a fine coating of mud and blood from his vanquished enemies.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?
NYX’s Bloody Mary Matte lipstick. It’s a fierce pinky red, it wears like iron and, of course, the name!

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

An old school Wight has shown up looking for a makeover.

    • Can’t really argue with an orc covered in mud and blood. Well, you can, but it will be a short argument. especially if it focuses on how they look covered in mud and blood…

Bloody Mary is a really awesome name for a lipstick. Terrifyingly awesome. especially while you put it on in front of a mirror, or possibly if you are a 16th C Protestant.

Ooh, a Wight! I feel like a lot of moisturiser will need to be involved, maybe a special primer?

  14. A dwarven warrior, an orc shaman, and a half-elf rogue walk into a bar. Who’s rocking the coolest makeup for the evening and what is it?

None. The wizard sitting in a corner watching the adventurers sports the most fabulous arcane drawings on the left side of his face. Given its magic make-up he can also alter it accordingly at a moments notice. Beat that :p.

If you could only wear ONE. SINGLE. LIPSTICK(BALM/THING). for the rest of your natural adventuring days, what would it be?

I go for THING: Long lasting skin cream. Who wants to raid lairs of dragons with dry skin?

You’re sitting around the campfire, regaining some HP over an extended rest, when suddenly the cleric springs to her feet and points in horror directly behind you. What’s going on?

He mistook my practise of casting “Portal to Hell” with an actual attack of demon brood. An easy mistake to make, but you know, a wizard always has it under control.

    Like

    • Magical, dynamically altering makeup is pretty hard to beat, really. Especially since it’s unisex and doesn’t require special remover fluid (I assume…)

Raiding with dry skin is a nightmare, especially when you end up in a lich’s raging snowstorm or a dragon’s firey lair. A good moisturiser is definitely an adventurer’s must-have!

*sigh* you know how jumpy clerics are! You have to *warn* them first. And the last time Khael said he had everything under control , the adventuring party spent a week picking miniature enchanted goblins out of their supply packs… *pointed look*
