What’s in The Rogue’s October Beauty Wishlist Chest? Charlotte Tibury, Holiday Loot and Wicked Lippies!

Greetings from my imaginary world of awesome, fellow rogues!

I’ve been seeing so many epic new beauty artefacts and loot recently, that I think it’s time for another wishlist! A rogue’s got to get it off her chest at some point, you know? This time it’s split into three areas, and I should mention right now that this isn’t technically an exhaustive list! I’m thinking of doing some additional wishlists for geek stuff and ballet, so if you’re keen to see those as well, let me know. 🙂

Without further ado, these are the shinies…

(NB: all the images were taken from the respective brand’s official website, or the Nordstrom one in the case of the LM and BL sets)

Charlotte Tilbury Wishlist

*drools*

Starting with Charlotte Tilbury…

Obviously, as a famously lipstick-addicted rogue, I’d rather like all of the two lipstick lines that Charlotte Tilbury has designed (barring a couple of too-nudes). However, for the purposes of this post, I have limited myself to two pretty pinks and two vampy purples! The pinks were brought to my attention particularly by the irrepressible Stacey and the illustrious Jaa, as well as (naturally) Christine of Temptalia. Christine is also responsible for my current hyperventilation over the The Rebel eyeshadow quad – I don’t really own many greens, especially ones that aren’t effectively just teal or turquoise, and the colour mix in this one just stole my heart. The Glamour Muse palette is, well, it’s *purple* people. Honestly! 😉

I have kind of a soft spot  for the beautiful sculpt/highlight palette that Charlotte also has in the range, but despite the gentle colour of the bronzer and the stunning packaging, if I’m brutally honest with myself I probably won’t actually use it. I know this is a *wish*list, and that it’s totally OK just to want something because it’s pretty, but there’s a part of me that wants to keep it to things I know I would actually put on. … anyway! Moving swiftly onward… 😀

holiday loot chests!

Holiday Goodies…

We’re starting to see the avalanche of Holiday 2014 sets and specials emerge (well, sets and specials exclusively for the US, mostly, but a rogue can dream!), and a few have caught my treasure-keen eye! Given my recent discovery of a Holy Grail product in Laura Mercier’s Amethyst Caviar Stick, the idea of trying out a bunch more of the shades seems rather appealing! Accordingly, the LM Caviar Stick set from Nordstrom is on my little list.  From the same page on Nordstrom comes the Butter London LE Steampunk collection. As both a geek and a lover of historical things, Steampunk is RIGHT UP MY VICTORIAN ALLEY. For those not familiar with it,  it’s kind of Victoriana meets Jules Verne style science fiction meets magic and steam power and clockwork. Did that make sense? Probably not. Nevertheless, it’s awesome, and I want that nail set! 😀 Thirdly, as a lover of brightly coloured eyeliners and Marc Jacobs lipsticks, I feel that the MJ Highliner set for Holiday 2014 is right up my alley – I’d love to try his eyeliners, and the shade selection is nice!

Nyx Wicked Lippies

Who *doesn’t* want to be able to sport a metallic khaki lip?

My wishlist was going to end with the Holiday sets, actually, but as I was drafting the post, an email from Nyx popped into my inbox, informing me that they had just released a set of unconvnentionally colored metallic lipsticks, presumably to capitalise on the success of their recent pastel Macaron Lippie range. Because this is so new, I haven’t seen a single real review or swatch, so I have no idea if these are *really* desirable or not, but I do know that I’m 100% behind anyone releasing more blue and purple lipsticks into the world! I’d go for pretty much all of them, but Betrayal, Immortal, Risque, Envy and Sinful are topping the list (no surprises there, right?) ;-).

So! That was my little wishlist for October (although it kind of covers September as well, really, since we’ve only just entered October).

Does anything catch your eye on that list? Have you tried some of the things there? What are your thoughts on steampunk? How do you feel about metallic khaki lipsticks? 😀

Until next time, fellow rogues, don’t forget to check for loot as well as traps!

  1. AAAHHH those NYX lipsticks! I believe I unsubscribed from NYX’s emails a while ago, but I regret that now. I’m surprised at how much I love this fall’s metallic-lip trend, since I spent so many years avoiding any hint of shimmer or frost in lip colors. Cold Hearted looks beautiful–I think metallic or shimmery grays are perversely wearable, but that might just be me. Immortal was made for you, obviously! 🙂 (Are rogues immortal? Can they gain immortality if they play their cards properly?)

And Butter London has a steampunk collection?! How did I not know about any of these awesome things? That pinkish copper is so tempting… *scuttles off to Google Images*

  2. Caviar stick set? I definitely think I’d like that one! 😀
I like steampunk but am undecided on the nail colours as far as actually wearing them myself. Most look shimmer/metallic, which makes sense if it’s a steampunk collection, but I don’t wear much other than cremes. I must admit I’m intrigued by the glittery looking Brass Goggles shade though, and I do love BL lacquers. I hope they’ll also sell the colours individually outside the boxed set, but I just got the promo email for this collection and it was really vague on useful information.
I also heartily approve of metallic khaki lipstick. I don’t think I’d ever wear it, but if someone else wants to then why not?

    • I wish I could get a closer look at them! Butter London has a funny ‘unock’ thing going on on their website that didn’t work when I was trying it, so I haven’t really gotten a good look at the polishes yet. I’m hoping some swatches and reviews will pop up soon 😉 Vague indeed!

I konw – despite the fact that I was personally after the purples, I was (un)reasonably pleased to see the khaki! 😀

      • I haven’t been able to participate in their strange unlocking game either. The first day the screen just went all grey, and for the second one I got to click and enter my info but then it gave me some weird message that basically said my entry was invalid. Oh well. And you’re right, swatches will eventually surface. Hopefully sooner rather than later. 😉

      • Bleh – if you’re going to do some sort of ‘fun’ interactive marketing, it has to at least work, BL!

I just got the grey screen of death. Well, it was more like a half grey screen, but it froze the tab…

      • the interactive thing did work but I didn’t get to see the I reveal until almost about 18hrs later as it only unlocks when 1000+ people have clicked it. on the bright side, they send you a coupon for helping out.

      • AHA! I see now. I went back and this time it didn’t crash my browser, so I have made a one woman chip in the latest unlock thing. I feel like they could have made a widget that didn’t crash, but the concept of unlocking stuff is cute.

  3. Your intro has been eating too many cakes. It got fat.

That’s a lovely wish list you got there! I wouldn’t mind getting that set of Marc Jacobs liners! Oh the fun I’d have with those… the wicked, crazy fun!

    • LOL – it was all the pies, Melissa. ALL THE PIES.

The liner set is *really* tempting me. I have such a thing for coloured eyeliner, it’s ridiculous. Add in the seductive justification of the fact that eyeliner is something that I wear regularly and… *BOOM*

      My wallet explodes.

  4. Great list! I just picked up the LM Caviar Stick Set from Sephora (it’s mostly your fault, actually, I did it after reading your post). It’s a smaller one, there are 4 shades: Rosegold, Moonlight, Amethyst, and Cocoa. I LOVE it! The Butter London Steampunk set is so tempting, I don’t know how much longer I can keep it together. I may order it. It’s gorgeous. It just is.

    • Muahahaha! 😉 I am both pleased and envious, LOL! Can’t wait to see what you think of them 🙂

DO IIIT. Order the BL set. Then you can swatch them all and tell me what they look like! 😛 Butter London has yet to reply to my question about whether the set is coming to Middle Earth, so I might have to live vicariously through you anyway 😉

      • In such situations, I tend to go for either the set that allows me to try the most new things (within reason – no point getting a set with all colours I hate or something). I do get a bit stuck on the ‘Steampunk’ part though – it really appeals to the geek side 😉

        (Side? I have another one? 😉 )

      • It’s OK, I’m not *extremely* knowledgeable about it either. I just like a couple of the shades, and am totally down with any collection from a fairly mainstream brand that brings geek/niche stuff forward into the spotlight. Even if it’s not *hardcore* steampunky, I call that ‘baby steps’. 😉

      • As opposed to… the nerd side? haha, I hear you. That’s like me and fantasy 🙂
If the released a LotR or GoT collection with that many options I would probably explode.

    • I really like how you get a nice selection of colours in them. I don’t even mind doubling up on Amethyst, since I *ahem* rather like it and have already gotten through more than you might expect of my existing one…

  5. Thanks for the shoutout, Syl! ❤ I want to try the CT matte lipsticks, too! I like how the tip of the bullet is cut – so fierce. LOL. I am still debating whether to get the LM Caviar Stick set. I probably already have all the shades but these are MINIS and you know how cray cray I am about minis!!

    Like

    • You’re welcome, Jaa! 😀 I too like that the bullets are different for the different lipstick types, and that the flat cut is not as weird looking as…what is it – Cle de Peau? I mean, it actually looks like it will still apply comfortably, LOL!

Take deep breaths, Jaa. LOL, I might end up having to hit you up for being my link to more US goodies, and what’s going to happen to your willpower score when all my goodies start coming through? None of these ones have snakes on them to put you off! 😉

      • Anytime, Syl! My pleasure! 😀

I’m going to try my hardest to resist the temptation. LOL. Especially now that holidays goodies are rolling out – SO MANY THINGS I “NEED”!!!!

  6. Sadly everything on your wishlist is beyond me right now! I am saving up to refill some skincare this month because I am almost about to run out! The CT lipsticks are gorgeous though! *sigh* 🙂

    • Aww – it’s for a good cause, though! 🙂 Your skin will thank you, LOL!

I’m staring down the barrel of having to get some new skincare myself, actually. I’m slowly running out of GWP minis and my super dry skin is calling for something better!

  7. CAVIAR STICKS fketalgeowijtvnkdgeoaprigjs!!!!!!

Also, that Marc Jacobs liner set is something I MUST HAVE.

Aren’t all the Charlotte Tilbury products droolworthy? I feel like I have to get “Bitch Perfect” JUST for the name, but I’m fairly sure the shade won’t suit me, sigh.

    Like

    • Hehe, high ifves for the same reaction to the caviar stick and MJ sets, LOL!

I’m wondering a little bit about the shade of Bitch Perfect myself. I think it should be ok, as long as it doesn’t have a pale cast to it on my skin. I think I’ll be alright, and I know I could always just mix it, but I don’t want to buy a ‘bad on me’ product, even if it does have a hilarious name! This is the great thing about ‘wish’lists – you don’t have to make all of the dreams come true! 😉

  8. khaki belongs and clothes and eyes, not on lips! fingers ok too. i just saw a picture of the benefit’s cheeky sweet spot box o’blushes and died a little bit inside. the packaging is too adorable for words but i already own one of the blushes and sent back another in the collection. maybe i need to change professions or hey! can i just hire you to lift one for me?!? the mj eye pencil set caught my eye also but i’m trying to remind myself that i use my liquid eyeliners way more and i’m still on the hunt for my hg gel liner…

    Like

    • I think the khaki is potentially more wearable than one might think, but I also suspect it’s going to depend heavily on the individual’s colouring. Mostly I just like that it exists – I’m not sure I could pull it off myself, LOL!

Ahh, that Benefit blush set looks so cool! There are a couple of other things I’d like from their holiday lineup actually – maybe we should go on a raid 😉 You bring the smokebombs, I’ll bring the hinge grease, okay?

You know, I can’t really speak much to gel liners. I’ve only ever tried Maybelline’s and UD’s, and both of them were nice. I have a NARS one that I’m waiting to try til I’ve photographed it (#bloggerproblems? #crazypersonproblems?), so I don’t know what their formula is like specifically…

      Like

      • I can oblige with a cloaking spell. I tried UD’s. it smudges on me. the only one that works on me with smudging so far is the benefit push up but I have a love/hate relationship with it so I’m looking for something less temperamental.

        Like

      • Have you tried the Maybelline? It didn’t change my life or anything, but it held up and at least it’s not too expensive. LOL, not the most glowing recommendation perhaps, but I’m a bit of a gel pot liner n00b, really.

  9. Ahhh, I have my eye on The Rebel palette as well, but I hate paying for shipping and must wait until a good deal comes along or I head down to the States. My wish list is everything and nothing: want all, need none. Sephora VIB is coming up and I keep throwing a bunch of things into the online cart, only to delete them all as time progresses. Thinking that it’s time for a new hobby, lol.

    Like

    • Shipping sucks @$$. *Especially* form the States. I’m like: ‘how can Sleek ship me two palettes from BELGIUM for $4, when it will cost me at least $20 to get, like, a single eyeshadow from the US?!’. I exaggerate, but only slightly. 😉

On a nicer note: THOSE GREENS OMG. ❤ Rebel!

LOL, maybe 😉 You should take up ballet! 😀 Balletballetballetballetballet*twitch*balletballetballetballet….
