Found the Magic Lamp of Frivolity? Then Here’s a Rogue’s April 2014 Wishlist!

Greetings from the rather misty shadow of the most frivolous genie you’ve ever seen, fellow rogues!

Yes, this wishful rogue is back once again, lusting after items her gold purse won’t quite stretch to cover! Fortunately, the items are generally in permanent collections, but you know rogues – if there’s loot to be had, they’ll be lusting after it. Sometimes, improved Treasure Sense is a real pain in the backside… 😉

So: which brands have caught this rogue’s eye in April (thus far)? Well, this month, we’re kind of breaking it down by brand and roguepart. First up, we have the nails, courtesy of Chanel:

April Wishlist: Chanel Nail Polishes in Ballerina, Holiday and Coup de Coeur

Chanel’s polishes in Ballerina, Holiday and Coup de Coeur.

Chanel’s polishes have, unfortunately, one of the best formulae I’ve ever tried on my nails. I say sadly because they’re $40 a bottle here, but I’ll be damned if they aren’t worth every cent (US readers, please don’t explode ;-))

Ballerina is one of those shades that’s kind of a bit pointless to own – it’s super sheer, really just gives your nails a soft shine, but DAMN THEM FOR CALLING IT BALLERINA (because now I have to have it). Stupid drive to collect ballet themed things… (I have the OPI NYC Ballet Soft Shades colours, but, but…!!).

Holiday is a vibrant orange that I must have walked past the Chanel counter and swatched about a million times. Orange is such a hard colour, but I don’t have anything like it in my polish hoard (which, admittedly, is pretty modest. I don’t have a LOT of colours in it full stop!), and this one just looks really bright and fun on my nails. Plus, I am fond of the colour navy, and I think this polish would just be ridiculously perfect with that. Even Hilarion  the Paladin would probably approve, and he’s a real diva when it comes to polish, let me tell you…

Coup de Coeur is such a rogue shade … no, seriously. I mean look at it – it’s purple, a little smoky, very sophisticated, kind of stealthy… 😀 Plus, what kind of a rogue would I be if I didn’t steal hearts as well?

Next up are the eyes, courtesy of NARS!

April Wishlist: NARS Eyeshadows in Lhasa, Kamchatka, Tropic, Outremer, Night Flight and Etrusque.

NARS Eyeshadows of Gloriousness +6, shades as labelled.

I have yet to own a single NARS eyeshadow, but I’ve been lusting after them forever – I think it’s time we took a look at exactly which shades I’d start with…

Lhasa and Kamchatka: These two shades I love for their gentle haziness. There’s somthing about adding grey or taupe to a shade that makes it really dreamy, and of course it speaks to me as a rogue! What could be more perfect than the colour of the stealthy haze generated by a well-timed smokebomb? Lhasa was recently bumped up on my radar by the excellent review of it over at Auxiliary Beauty, which I appreciate very much!

Night Flight: Do I even have to explain how appropriate this shade is in every respect for a rogue? Plus it has blue sparkles. That is all.

Étrusque: This is kind of in the same boat as Night Flight. Seriously, people, it’s a gold that shimmers almost as much as the hoard underneath a Red Dragon – and it doesn’t even smell faintly of barbecued adventurers! Bonus: the Etruscans were awesome, had faultless taste in Greek Vases (Exekias…drool…), and lived in an awesome area (Tuscany). It’s a win-win on this shade, really.

Tropic: This one is probably the peak of frivolity in this post, because I literally want to own it because it looks stunning in the pan. Every time I’ve swatched this, I am disappointed by how it actually works, but in the pan…that is something else. Merfolk had a hand in this, I’m sure…

Outremer: Okay, we have to pause here for a moment, and have some reverent silence …. … … Alright, you can blink again now.  This shade has been on my most wanted list for as long as it has existed. It has never left the list. It will never leave the list, until I finally scrape together the funds to ransom it from Mecca Cosmetica. This shade, from its glorious colour to its fabulously evocative name (implied adventure is irresistible to a rogue!), is perfection for me. If you’ll excuse me, I need to go over there and take a moment…

Alright, while Syl’s getting control of herself again, let’s take a look at the lip offerings from Urban Decay!

April Wishlist: UD Lipsticks in Lovelight, Gash and Jilted

Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks, as labelled. These are a Pokemon item, if ever there was one!

As you know, I recently reviewed another shade from this line, the toxically gorgeous Venom. The formula on these is perfect for me, so I’m keen to explore a few more!

Lovelight: from what I’ve seen, this shade fits into my favourite bracket for MLBB lipsticks: a bit pink, a bit peach/coral, and a bit golden/sparkly! Since MLBB lipsticks are a bit of an addiction of mine (next to the violently violet ones), I think Lovelight here would make the perfect addition to that arsenal. One day, I may even get myself a bandolier for them…

Gash: The colour and name of this lipstick appeal to the ghoulish rogue in me! It helps that the colour is a darkly, rogueishly sexy one, too. Just sayin’…

Jilted: As you may have realised from my previous review of a fabulous fuchsia, I have a bit of a thing for eye-wateringly fuchsia lipsticks with a hint of blue. This one exactly fits that bill in UD’s Revolution line, and the only thing stopping me from picking it up on the first round was the fact that I would have received it just before I got married. The name seemed a little inopportune (although on reflection, I’m not sure what getting a venomous kiss before the wedding says either… ;-)).

Last but not least, we’ll move onto the skin, where I thought I’d bring you a little rogueish geekery via the medium of Think Geek:

RPG Scented Oils! Now you too can smell like a rogue ;-)

Sadly, these cannot be shipped outside the US, but if they could, I’d have them in a heartbeat. They’re even on sale at the moment, so if I’ve piqued your interest, hop on over and check them out 😉

Well, that’s it for April, folks. I’ve started the genie working, and hopefully he’ll be able to rustle up a few of these goodies for me someday soon.

Until next time, fellow rogues, don’t forget to check for traps!

  1. Thanks for the mention; I live to enable, especially when it comes to hazy gray eyeshadows! And navy and orange is one of my favorite color combinations. I actually find the Chanel formula to be prone to chipping, but it does apply flawlessly, and the colors…sigh. I’ve been loving Tapage this spring.

    I WANT A LIPSTICK BANDOLIER.

  2. Hahaha seriously? RPG-scented oils? Now I am SUPER intrigued! I do want some NARS eyeshadows and UD Revolution lipsticks as well, but my wallet has taken QUITE A HIT recently, so I have to be good and sit on my hands :p

    • All that Guerlain that Christine’s been tempting us with, was it 😉
I *really* want those oils (like, all of them), but I will have to wait until I’m in the US someday!

  3. Nars Lhasa and Kamchatka looks like a perfect pairing for sultry smokey eye look! Outremer is just.. wow… never seen a striking blue like that! A fun color to have for sure! Imagine wearing it with Chanel Holiday on the nails. Quite a look eh? Tehehe

  4. So what the oil description is saying is that I smell like some kind of attractive leaf mold? Hmm. I could live with that. Better than a bordello…

The NARS colours are lovely. I like Outremer but could never imagine actually wearing it. Agree on Etrusque – it’s so pretty & sandy. And I am quite disappointed to hear about Tropic. It sounds like those “sparkle” purples I try that look great in the pot but just come out kind of ashy and grey on the skin. I think Chanel illusion d’ombre has one, and NARS too.

Back to my awesome NARS shadow sticks – using those almost daily right now…
