Greetings from the aftermath of a happy feast, fellow rogues!
The wizard and I have been carrying out a little mini-quest over the last couple of days, journeying through storm and night to the frozen South, to see a couple of fellow adventurers leap over the branch. It was truly a marvellous celebration, and today I thought I would keep you entertained with some details about the makeup look I put together for the occasion, and a few photos I took along the journey.
A quick note: both the photos taken here and the post itself were done via the medium of a mobile device, so this is a bit of an additional adventure!
I had decided to shed my usual black adventuring ensemble for a coral coloured tunic dress, with a navy cardigan and tights (it really was the frozen south). This prompted me to bust out a few of my tried and tested favourites, as well as a few new products that are on probation…
I started with a layer of Clinique’s Superprimer, which I’m currently testing out. So far, things are going well, so I should be bringing you a full review soon! On top of that went a thin layer of the YSL BB Creme (review here) to even things out where I needed it, some YSL Touche Éclat to brighten up my undereye area (review here), all followed by a dusting of the Chanel powder (Compact Douceur) to finish.
Chanel’s cream blush in Affinite (review here) brightened up my cheeks, and Lancôme’s matte eyeshadow in Tres Chocolat filled in my brows (tutorial here).
Onto the eyes… I laid down a base of the Urban Decay Primer Potion (previous photo) first. On top of that went a wash of Chopper over the eyelid, with a little Tease in the crease (sounds…dirty?), and some Verve in the inner corner (all from the UD Naked 2 palette). I then did the upper lash line with a smoky line of UD sabbath (matte navy liner), and covered that with a dusting of the YDK shadow to take the edge off (Sabbath is quite a statement!). I did my water lines in UD Uzi (softly shimmering gunmetal) to keep the look softly smoky.
After that, I curled my lashes and applied a couple of layers of the Clinique waterproof mascara (review here).
For the lips, I went quite simple with the Colourburst Lacquer Balm in Demure from Revlon (review here). It makes a great ‘nude’ for my skintone and the moderately smoky eye I was sporting, it has some nice evening sparkle, and is easy to reapply.
So, by this point I imagine you might be wondering what the end result of all this powdering and lining and shimmering was. Well, I managed to get a couple of photos, despite the miserable lighting and the mobile camera I was using, so, I present:
Right! So (with some apologies for the miserable eye/lip photos), that was the look! Perfect for an autumn wedding evening, where a storm has just cleared to allow a little of the sun to shine through before it got dark.
For those interested, the bride was sporting an absolutely fabulous smoky eye and bright pink red lip for the evening. She looked phenomenal! I didn’t really get to quiz her on the exact products, though 😉 .
Before I leave you to continue on my quest back to the rainy north, I thought I’d post a couple of the photos I took along our journey. Scenic ones!
Until next time, fellow rogues, don’t forget to check for traps!

Beautiful pics. I am glad there were no trolls under the bridge, that is sooo old school. The modern hippster troll lives in caves and vomits acid…potentially not that much better, actually.

ROFL. Now I have this image of a troll in skinny jeans, a ratty cardigan, a limp, slicked over hairstyle that borders on Hitler-y and thick framed glasses with no lenses 😀 truly a terrifying prospect!

You have such beautiful eyes, Syl! WHY CAN’T I HAVE EYES LIKE YOURS!!!! LOL!! Mine are super small! I have no crease whatsoever and no lower lashes!!! And my top lashes are thin and sparse! Omg I can go on and on haha!
I have Clinique Superprimer in the yellow shade and I’m not a fan of it. Too drying for me and the consistency is just not to my liking. I wonder if the universal one that you have is different?
Love the last photo: “The calm after the storm”. The colors are so rich!

The last photo was my first attempt at an ‘arty dew picture’, LOL. I was quite pleased with the result I got from the mobile camera!
Hehe, I’m glad someone liked my kinda grainy eye photo that I cropped out of another picture 😛 I was trying so hard to get a good shot!

Aww, thanks 😀 th necklace was a wonderful find at a vintage fabric fair! Sometimes, a rogue just needs to bust out the cardigan and pearls, you know? 😉

When are you going to put up full face photos? They took down the “Wanted for Looting the Royal Treasury” posters, so you’re safe to show your face. 😛

Hehe, true, but a rogue has to maintain some mystique, yes?

Lovely nature photos! But if you have time to take them, then you are not rogueing hard enough! Chop chop! LOL. Find me a gelatinous cube so I can immortalize it in a themed manicure! 🙂

Dammit! We had one cornered just the other day.! Hilarion went a bit postal on it though… He has issues with gelatinous cubes. Something to do with boarding school?

Looks like a lovely spot for a wedding! Even though I’m married, I’m constantly having dream weddings in my mind. I guess that’s what happens when you spend approximately $200 on your wedding and have only 3 guests! I still don’t even have a ring or engagement ring after six years! Not be damsel-y but I want my rings damn it!

Well, I suppose it’s technically your SO that’s the important part, but sparklies are important too, especially if your’re an adventurer 😉
Maybe time to start saving for a vow renewal, complete with rings? 😀
